Angry townies in India burned army vehicles in kick after further than a dozen people were killed by dogfaces who inaptly believed some of them were zealots in the country’s remote northeast region along the border with Myanmar, officers said on Sunday.
Nagaland state’s top-tagged sanctioned Neiphiu Rio ordered an inquiry into the killings, which passed on Saturday, and he twittered, “ The unfortunate incident leading to the payoff of civilians at Oting is largely condemnable.”

An army officer said the dogfaces fired at a truck after entering intelligence about a movement of mutineers in the area and killed six people.
As irate townies burned two army vehicles, the dogfaces fired at them, killing nine further people, the officer said on condition of obscurity as he wasn’t authorized to talk to journalists. Before the officer had said seven protesters were killed.
One dogface was also killed in the clash with protesters, he said.
An Indian army statement said it “ deeply rued” the incident and its fate, adding that “ the cause of the unfortunate loss of lives is being delved at the loftiest position and applicable action will be taken as per the course of law.”
” Security forces have suffered severe injuries in the incident, including one dogface who succumbed to the injuries,” it added.
The statement said, “ believable intelligence” on insurrectionary movements indicated that a “ specific operation was planned” in the Mon quarter in Nagaland.
Mutineers frequently cross into Myanmar after attacking Indian government forces in a remote areas.
Nyamtow Konyak, an original community leader, said those killed were coal miners.
India’s Home Minister Amit Shah expressed anguish over the “ unfortunate incident” and said the state government will probe the killings.

The army officer said the dogfaces had laid an ambush for a week following intelligence that mutineers were planning to attack dogfaces in the area, 400 kilometers (250 country miles) east of Gauhati, the capital of Assam state.
