Fahrettin Altun, the director of communications for Turkey, emphasizes the country’s intention to view Africa “not through its negative aspects, but through its true potential and dynamism”.

The Communications Directorate of Turkey organized the Turkiye-Africa Media Forum, which got underway in Istanbul on Friday.

Turkish Communications Director Fahrettin Altun, Libya’s National Unity Communication and Political Affairs Minister Walid Ammar Ellafi, and African Union of Broadcasting CEO Gregoire Ndjaka gave the forum’s opening remarks.

Altun stated that the platform will enhance relationships between Turkey and Africa and “we believe that this forum will take our current strong collaborations to the next level”.

Bilateral relationship dynamism
Altun emphasized Turkey’s intention to view Africa “through its true potential and dynamism, rather than through its negative aspects”.

Panel discussions at the forum will cover topics such as “Accurate Information Flow and Strategies to Counter Disinformation in Turkiye-Africa Media Relations”, “Public Diplomacy and Strategic Communication: Exploring Opportunities for Cooperation within Common Visio”, and “Strengthening the Media and Communication Ecosystem in Turkiye-Africa relations”.

It  is anticipated that more than a dozen panelists would participate in several sessions to outline and go over the measures to improve relations between Turkey and the continent.
