BEIRUT: Israeli air strikes near Damascus on Wednesday killed 10 combatants, among them six Syrian dogfaces, in the deadliest similar raid since the launch of 2022, a war examiner said.

The Syrian Overlook for Human Rights said an security depot and several positions linked to Iran’s military presence in Syria were among the targets.

Government media in Syria verified four casualties in the strikes, on which Israel didn’t note.

“ The Israeli adversary carried out an air assault at dawn. targeting several positions around Damascus,” a military source was quoted as saying by the state news agency SANA. “ The disquisition indicated that four dogfaces were killed, three others injured and material damage noted.”

The rearmost strike follows another near Damascus on April 14, without casualties, according to SANA.

The UK- grounded Overlook, which relies on a vast network of sources across Syria, said eight people were also wounded in the strikes.

The other four killed weren’t members of the Syrian service but belonged to Iran- backed host, Overlook principal Rami Abdel Rahman said, adding that he couldn’t corroborate their nation.

He said at least five separate spots were targeted in the rearmost Israeli raid.

Israeli dogfaces kill Palestinian

Israeli dogfaces shot dead a Palestinian in the enthralled West Bank on Wednesday, croakers and a militant group said, in clashes that erupted after an arrest raid.

It was the alternate time in two days that Israeli forces have killed a Palestinian during a late- night irruption.

The Israeli service said its forces had restrained two suspects in what it described as “counter-terrorism conditioning” in the megacity of Jenin. Latterly, it said dozens of Palestinians threw jewels and snares bias and opened fire at the dogfaces, who responded with live security.

The Palestinian foreign ministry condemned the raid, saying the taken man, Ahmad Massad, had been pithily executed.

Videotape circulated on social media appeared to show at least one Palestinian firing a rifle in the road as further shots were heard. The Palestinian Islamic Jihad group said in a statement that Massad was one of its members and that he’d been killed “ as he brazened the enwrapping forces”.
