India, Pakistan trade charges over Kashmir at CICA summit

ISLAMABAD: India responded angrily on Thursday after Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif refocused to mortal rights violations in held Kashmir and suppression of nonages in the country at an indigenous conference while reiterating the offer of dialogue for the sake of indigenous peace and substance.

Addressing the Conference on Interaction and Confidence structure Measures(CICA) in Astana, PM Sharif said “Indian republic is known lower for its rights and freedoms and further for its suppression and brutality. The verity is the hard and harsh fact that India moment is trouble to its nonages, to its neighbours, to its region and to itself ”.

“Yet. we’re willing to engage with India for the sake of peace, substance, and progress in the region because we can not go to have further poverty and severance on both sides of the border,” he said, adding the stingy coffers available to the two countries couldn’t be wasted on fuelling pressures.

Bilateral dialogue between the two neighbouring countries, which have been to war thrice in history, has been suspended since 2016. Pakistan latterly downgraded political ties with India in 2019 after the ultimate unilaterally adjoined engaged Jammu and Kashmir. posterior events in engaged Kashmir and Hindu racialists ’ conduct against Muslims in India averted any progress toward re-engagement.

The two sides had, still, last time agreed on the restoration of the 2003 ceasefire agreement on the Line of Control, separating the two corridors of the disputed Himalayan region, through back-channel tactfulness.

The ceasefire is holding since also, but no important progress could be made latterly.

It has been Islamabad’s longstanding position on normalisation that it’s for India to give conducive terrain for that to be.

Reaffirming that position, Mr. Sharif said “I’m absolutely ready and willing to have serious dialogue and discussion with our Indian counterparts handed they show the sincerity of purpose and they show that they’re ready to bandy issues which have really kept us at a distance over decades, created pressures, averted trade and investment. This has to come to a stop.”

Indian Minister of State for External Affairs Meenakshi Lekhi, who was representing India at the conference, hit back by asking Pakistan to end the alleged cross-border terrorism and produce suitable conditions for dialogue.

Ms. Lekhi indicted Pakistan for misusing the event to “propagate false and vicious propaganda” against India and diverging from the main focus of conversations.

She contended that PM Sharif’s reflections weren’t only tantamount to “gross hindrance in India’s internal affairs, sovereignty, and territorial integrity”, but also violated CICA’s principles.

Ms. Lekhi said Pakistan must “incontinently cease anti-India cross-border terrorism and shut down its structure of terrorism”.

She asked Pakistan to show sincerity in its offer by taking believable, empirical, and unrecoverable conduct for precluding alleged cross-border terrorism against India.
