Federal Govt’s Negotiation Committee arrives in Muzaffarabad

Muzaffarabad, (Parliament Times): The federal government’s negotiation committee has arrived in Muzaffarabad and expressed its commitment to listen to and resolve the demands of the Kashmiri people.

In light of the tense situation in Azad Kashmir, the federal government has formed a high-level committee which includes Senator Rana Sanaullah, Federal Ministers Sardar Yousaf, Ahsan Iqbal, Tariq Fazal Chaudhry, Engineer Amir Muqam, Raja Pervaiz Ashraf, Prime Minister of Azad Jammu and Kashmir Chaudhry Anwarul Haq, former President of Azad Jammu and Kashmir Masood Khan, and Qamar Zaman Kaira.

During a joint press conference before departure to Muzaffarabad, Federal Minister Ahsan Iqbal said that the government will play its role in resolving the genuine issues of the people of Azad Kashmir. He said that some elements may try to exploit the situation to disturb internal peace in Pakistan. Ahsan Iqbal further said that the sentiments and legitimate demands of the people of Azad Kashmir are valued, and he hoped that all issues would be resolved successfully through dialogue.

Raja Pervaiz Ashraf said that efforts will be made to immediately fulfill the genuine demands of the people of Kashmir. He emphasized that it is necessary to come out of this situation soon, as Pakistan and Kashmir’s enemies may have several intentions. He said that legitimate demands should be resolved through mutual discussion and dialogue.

Rana Sanaullah said that all friends are present here on the instructions of the Prime Minister. Violence complicates matters, not resolves them, so we need to sit together and talk over legitimate demands. He expressed full confidence that by sitting with friends from the People’s Action Committee, all misunderstandings will be cleared, adding that the people of Azad Kashmir are our brothers.

Amir Muqam said that it is our wish that the genuine demands of the people of Azad Kashmir be resolved. Nothing is achieved through protest and violence; issues are solved by sitting and talking.

Sardar Yousaf said that every major issue is resolved only through dialogue. The Prime Minister has said that genuine demands will be accepted. Members of the People’s Action Committee will talk for the betterment of Azad Kashmir, and he hoped this issue would be resolved.

Dr. Tariq Fazal Chaudhry said that violent protest is not a solution to any matter. Issues should be resolved through dialogue.

Qamar Zaman Kaira said that we will accept genuine demands through dialogue. Issues must be resolved through dialogue; previously as well, problems have been solved through dialogue. He expressed hope that the efforts of the Prime Minister would be listened to carefully and cooperation would be extended.

Prime Minister of Azad Kashmir Anwarul Haq said that the people of Azad Kashmir had to face an extremely unpleasant situation. Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, despite being abroad, took notice of the situation. We want the protest to end and the people of Kashmir to come out of this hardship. Anwar-ul-Haq expressed hope that the deadlock in negotiations would be resolved and talks would resume.
