Rawalakot, (Parliament Times) : An important meeting of the Regional Coordination Committee was held in Rawalakot, the headquarters of Poonch Division, under the chairmanship of Commissioner Poonch Division Masood-ur-Rehman. The meeting was attended by Commander 2 AK Brigade, Deputy Inspector General of Police Region Sardar Zaheer Ahmed, Director General Health Services Dr. Farooq, Chief Engineer Roads Amjad Ali Shah, Chief Engineer Barkiat Farooq Gorsi, Commandant Combined Military Hospital Rawalakot, Deputy Commissioner Haveli Imran Shaheen, Sudhanuti Syed Mumtaz Kazmi, Bagh Raja Sadaqat Khan, Poonch Sardar Umar Farooq and Superintendent of Police Atta-ur-Rehman, Raja Nadeem Arif, Raja Akmal, Muhammad Riaz Mughal and senior military officials.
Addressing the meeting, Commissioner Poonch Division said that due to civil-military coordination, not only was India’s aggression retaliated but also internal terrorist plans were foiled. He congratulated the Pakistan Army, Police and other institutions and appreciated their services. He said that the purpose of the forum is to review the steps to make public service in the division effective and to formulate a plan of action to deal with future challenges. Public service can be further improved only with the joint efforts of the institutions. Stressing on the timely completion of development projects, he said that the government has provided funds for the projects and the departments should complete the projects started for public facilities so that facilities can be provided to the people.
The Deputy Inspector General of Police appreciated the performance of the police and intelligence agencies in foiling the terrorist plan within the state and said that due to timely intelligence sharing and prompt action by the police, the state was safe from any major tragedy. He termed the negative propaganda against the police on social media as regrettable.
The senior military officials paid tribute to the spirit of the people and the civil administration against Indian aggression in the meeting and appreciated the performance of the police and the sacrifices of the martyrs.
The Deputy Commissioners and Superintendents of Police who participated in the meeting gave a detailed briefing to the forum on the District Coordination Committee meetings, development projects, public welfare initiatives and challenges faced in their districts. They also informed about the completion of stalled development projects and future needs. The forum was also briefed on the security arrangements during the holy month of Ramadan.
Commandant CMH Rawalakot highlighted the medical facilities available in the hospital and the problems.
Director General Health Services Dr. Farooq briefed the forum on the steps taken by the Azad Kashmir government to improve health facilities and future plans, saying that the government has increased the health budget, which will directly benefit the people.
While the Chief Engineer Highways and Electricity informed the forum about the details of the ongoing development projects.
The meeting decided that the full implementation of the National Action Plan will be ensured in all districts and those who are planning to disrupt the peaceful environment of the state and those who are planning terrorism and their facilitators will be dealt with iron hands.
The meeting also decided that suggestions will be sent to the higher authorities for the provision of public facilities, uninterrupted supply of electricity, improvement of roads, promotion of health and tourism so that the problems faced by the people can be reduced.
In the meeting, Fateha and special prayers were offered for those who were martyred in Operation Banyan Marsus and the police personnel who achieved martyrdom in the fight against terrorists.
